    Cindy Bonner

Cindy Bonner takes an unstereotypical -- and historically truer -- approach to writing. None of the gunmen in her fictional shoot-outs are very good shots; the soldiers in her war stories drive supply trucks rather than tanks. The real heroes of her fiction are often the women -- strong, spirited, capable women, but women who are faithful to their time and situation. Historical accuracy is the keystone of her work.

Bonner’s writing career includes five literary novels, numerous short stories and book reviews. Her first novel, LILY, was a finalist for the Western Writers of America’s Pipe Bearer’s Award.  Her novels have been listed as “Best Books” by the American Library Association and have been translated into Spanish and German. Her fourth novel, RIGHT FROM WRONG, won the PEN Texas Award. Her manuscripts are collected in the Texas State University’s Wittliff Collections archives.

Besides writing, Bonner has taught workshops at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She has been a featured speaker at the University of Colorado Conference on World Affairs, the Texas Book Festival, and the American Library Association Convention. She has also judged writing submissions for several literary awards including the Texas Institute of Letters and the Oklahoma Writers Federation.
